Good things!

- I won Best in Show for poetry for this semester's AmLit! The poem was one I posted here a while back - "when my brother tells me that a blue whale's heart is the size of a volkswagen"

- My mom and sister are in town to help me pack up stuff and do a test pack of Beatrice

- I got a lot of stuff done yesterday!

Bad things!

- I did not get everything done yesterday that I wanted to - specifically, mailing out [info]saleaway stuff

- I am being eaten alive by insects and it itches like crazy

- Everyone else in the house is moving out this weekend except for me

- I am feeling overwhelmed

First - CONGRATULATIONS! You are so very talented & it's nice that it's recognized
The mental image I have, when I'm overwhelmed, is of being tossed about in a big ocean & the mental game I play with myself is to get to the point here I can control the image & find a way to float in the middle of the chaos.

The other image that helps me is to think I've pushed off & am on the waterslide - it's going to be a wild & exciting & sometimes scary trip but there's little anyone can do to control what's to happen so I try to enjoy the ride & be flexible for whatever twists are to come.

Do you have my cell #? Feel free to call or text me, anytime. The ringers are off when I can't be disturbed but I try to reply ASAP, even if it's just to say when I will be free to talk. I'm almost never on IM anymore but if you Skype, I have a camera/microphone somewhere...

Congrats on the best in show!

Also, if you feel like you're rattling around in the house, I could just drag all my shit over and do my work there instead of in the library for a day or two. Or if you just want someone to talk to - you have my number!

congrats! i haven't thought of it for a long time, but your journal reminds me of being 21 and having a nervous breakdown because i wasn't ready to finish college and end the corresponding era of my life. looking back it seems silly; practically everyone leaves school and their friends and moves somewhere else and does new things, but reading your posts reminds me how very frightening it was. i was just fine, and you will be too.
