So, some of you may remember Tom, the boy who my mother brought over for Thanksgiving from school and who is absolutely awesome. Over break, he came over to my house, and my mom showed him my poem (untitled) in AmLit (my school literary magazine).
He loved it. The next time he came back, he told me that he had liked it so much that he had done some art related to it. I was flattered, but after awhile forgot about it.
Anyway, I got this email a few days ago:
hey there carmen,
I may have mentioned earlier in some conversation that I had made something which was inspired by your amazing poem. I originally drew it, then photographed it, afterwards playing with it in photoshop to make it a background for my computer. I hope you enjoy it as much as I enjoyed making it. thanks for the inspiration!
And this was attached:

Awesome, no?

THE TEMPEST. WAS. AWESOME.
I am in love with theater. Absolutely, one hundred percent. And I love my cast and director. And all of my amazing friends who came to watch.
Before the show even started, we were officially inducted into the Rude Mechanicals with this pledge:
( the pledge! )
I did great. I only almost forgot one line, but covered nicely. The audience laughed at Katie and me as we stumbled and staggered and fought. It was so awesome.
And then, just when things couldn't get any better, Neal came by. Tonight was the opening of AmLit, American University's literary magazine, which I couldn't attend because of the play. Neal brought me a copy of the magazine... and a certificate.
I won Poetry Best in Show. Out of 115 poems, I won Best in Show.
Tonight has been such a great night.
