Drawing Class

walk walk
Since the semester is winding down (graduating in two weeks, holy shit, two weeks, *hyperventilates*) I brought home my drawing portfolio from the semester so I could sort out what I wanted to show her for my final critique. Since I had them home, I decided to photograph the drawings. I like to think that I did so for posterity, or whatever, but it's really because I was killing time (I didn't want to work on my screenplay).

Anyway, they can all be seen on pages two and three of my artwork gallery, but I wanted to post some of my favorites here.

My conclusion: I really enjoy drawing and I think I'd love to illustrate my own books. Drawing may not be my most skillful... ah, skill, but it makes me generally happy.

The Mirror

just a bit neurotic
Perhaps this will explain why I'm so frustrated with my drawing class.

When I sit down and draw on my own time, this is what I make:

The Mirror
(Charcoal of varying hardness and width, china marker, bloodred contra crayon, sharpie, ink)

I realize, of course, that this is more than likely not your cup of tea. But I had fun making this drawing. I enjoyed it and it challenged me and I am proud of the result. I realize that it doesn't look like... well, I was going to say it "doesn't look like the hand on the floor" but the truth is it doesn't look like anything in real life. I don't... I have no interest in representation.

I know, I know. I *should* learn the basics. I don't know nearly as much as my professor. I know. You're right.

But I'm stubborn. I'm stubborn and I have charcoal, and that's a dangerous combination.
